Subway stations on alert after carnage in Moscow

Sniffer dogs and extra police officers were out in force on Tuesday at the capital's subway stations following deadly explosions on Moscow's Metro on Monday that claimed 39 lives.

Ning Tongtong, a press officer with the Public Transportation Division of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, told METRO subway staff would also be even more vigilant in their inspection of items carried on to trains and would not be neglecting anyone's bag or liquids in a bid to make the subway as safe as possible.

Fu Zhenghua, director of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, confirmed to Xinhua News Agency that security had been stepped up in response to the double suicide bombings in Moscow.
