Cities move to sustainable development

China Daily | Updated: 2008-08-13 08:27

Six cities in the eastern part of Heilongjiang have made significant progress in the development of alternative industries, seen by planners as an inevitable move for resource-based cities to ensure sustainable development.

They will next focus on alternative industries including new materials manufacturing, metallurgy, agricultural product processing, forest products processing, equipment manufacturing, biotechnology and modern services.

New materials will include those made from chemicals and nonmetal engineering materials.
