Lhasa railway station offers free medical assistance

Xinhua | Updated: 2017-11-23 15:15

LHASA -- To provide medical services to tourists suffering altitude sickness, a passenger health center has been set up in the railway station in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region.

The health center is equipped with doctors and nurses on duty round-the-clock, where passengers can take their blood pressure, inhale oxygen and take medicine to ease altitude sickness. The services are free.

There is less oxygen in the air in the plateau city during winter. The city government has introduced measures, including cheaper tickets, more affordable hotel rates and better public services, to attract tourists.

Official data showed that the railway station received over 1.84 million passengers from January to October this year, up 16.7 percent year on year.
