Passengers need ID card for domestic flights: regulations

By Ma Chi | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-05-22 16:32

New civil aviation regulations require passengers on domestic flights to produce their ID cards, rather than passports, reported China Radio International on Monday.

Under the new rules published by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, if a domestic flight leg is included in the travel, passengers have to produce his or her ID card. Previously, they could board a flight with?their passport.

Those who enter or leave the country frequently will be most affected, Wang Chuang from China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu said.

Chinese people living overseas will also be affected because many don't have ID cards or their cards have expired since moving away.

The good news is that those who don't have an ID card with them can apply for a temporary ID card at the airport police station.
