KUNMING -- Nine people died and 20 others were injured after a bus collided with a truck on Sunday in Southwest China's Yunnan province, according to local authorities.

The accident occurred at around 3 p.m. in Mangshi City, Dehong Prefecture when the bus crashed with the truck from the opposite direction, said a statement issued by the information office of Dehong.

Among the 20 hospitalized, three were seriously wounded, the statement said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
