Vice president of Chinese Academy of Governance expelled from CPC

(Xinhua) Updated: 2015-11-11 14:56

A ministerial-level official He Jiacheng has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office for multiple offenses including graft and hindering an official investigation.

He, former executive vice president of Chinese Academy of Governance (CAG), "severely violated political discipline, and interfered with and hindered investigations," the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The CCDI accused He of taking advantage of his post to seek profits for others and of accepting bribes. He flouted frugality rules introduced at the end of 2012 by frequenting private clubs. As a senior CPC official, He showed no signs of self-discipline even after the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012, when the anti-corruption campaign was launched, the statement said.

The proceeds of He's transgressions will be confiscated and his case handed over to prosecutors.

The CCDI announced it was investigating the 59-year-old in October 2014.

The CAG is a ministerial-level institution directly affiliated with the State Council, China's cabinet. It is an important body for training high- and mid-level civil servants and high-level administrators and policy researchers.
