An official in Hunan province who died after jumping from his office building left a note saying he was the innocent party in an anti-graft investigation.

Yang Pingluo, 46, general engineer at Yueyang City Environmental Monitoring Center, killed himself by jumping from the 13th floor on Thursday.

His wife had tried to persuade him not to commit suicide, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily reported on Wednesday.

Yang's wife found a note in his pocket, in which he said he was merely following his leaders' instructions in a corruption case that is being investigated.

Family members took Yang's coffin to his office building to seek "justice" from the local authorities.

The family members agreed for the body to be cremated on Friday after reaching a deal with the local government, which agreed to offer Yang's job to his daughter and to compensate the family, the report said.
