Guizhou province has been selected as the host city for the 24th National Book Trade Fair to be held in August.
"We are in the age of nationwide reading, and we have held a series of activities ahead of the fair to inspire our citizens to read more," said He Li, vice-governor of Guizhou, at the preparatory meeting of the 24th National Book Trade Fair on April 17.
The Chinese Academy of Press and Publication released a report in 2012 saying that the average Chinese person, aged 18-70, reads just more than four books per year, while the number for Jewish people was 64.
