Beijing police said on Tuesday they had arrested eight people suspected of taking drugs, including a popular young singer.

The police in Chaoyang district discovered a group of eight people on Monday who allegedly took drugs in a community near Sanlitun, according to a micro blog post published by the Beijing Public Security Bureau.

Six suspects, including Li Daimo, a 25-year-old who became a popular singer after he participated in The Voice of China, a television talent show, were arrested taking drugs in Sanlitun, while the other two suspects were located in a hotel in Fengtai district, the post said.

The suspects confessed to taking drugs and the case is still under investigation, the post said.
