Police in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, are looking for a woman who abandoned her baby at a hospital on Sunday, several hours after she gave birth, Yangtze Evening reported.

The 40-year-old woman and her baby were taken by ambulance to Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital at about 4 pm after the woman gave birth to a healthy boy in a bathroom during a shopping trip.

Nurses discovered at about 9 pm that the woman had left the hospital. They could not get in touch with her with the address and telephone numbers she had provided.

Hospital officials then called police, who are trying to find the baby's parents.
