A ceremony in which ancient religious books are donated to monasteries was held in Lhasa, the capital city of the Tibet autonomous region, on Friday.

Officials of the Tibet Autonomous Region Publishing Association, the Buddhist Association of China and many monks and nuns attended the ceremony.

According to the regional publishing association, 300 boxes of 1,500 Tibetan ancient books were donated to 300 monasteries in the region.

"For the sake of building monks' and nuns' knowledge, we're working to expand the libraries in the monasteries and nunneries," said Wangdu Tsering, president of the publishing association.

"Monks and nuns can read about China's excellent culture and the profound Buddhism texts from these books," Kunsang Nyingpo, living Buddha of Luphug monastery in the region's Nagqu prefecture and a professor at the Tibet Buddhism College.
