China Islamic Association celebrated the 60th anniversary of its founding on Aug 30.

A meeting attended by prominent religious figures was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the anniversary.

Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country’s top political advisory body, met the delegates to the meeting and extended his congratulations.

Yu said he hopes the association will continue leading Muslims from all ethnic groups to make more contributions to the people's well-being and the nation's prosperity.
