Self-improvement urged for discipline inspectors

BEIJING - A senior Chinese official has called on the country's discipline inspectors to improve their own qualities and abilities to make new and greater contributions to the current anti-corruption campaign and the undertakings of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) and the state.

The call was made by He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chief of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, at a meeting of discipline inspectors held Tuesday in Beijing.

Ahead of the forthcoming 18th National Congress of the CPC, He urged the inspectors to sum up their experiences over the past few years in an effort to work firmly in accordance with the Party Central Committee, with Hu Jintao as the general secretary.

Since the Party, the government and the public have pinned high hopes on these inspectors, the senior official said the inspectors must fulfill their promises to act as a "faithful guard for the Party and close friend of the people."

Discipline officials responsible for supervising others must accept supervision by Party organizations, Party members, the public and the media in a self-conscious manner, He emphasized, adding that self-improvement should be a permanent job for discipline officials.
