Yiliang Chihong Mining Industry Co Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanghai-listed Yunnan Chihong Zinc & Germanium Co Ltd, has suspended production because of the successive earthquakes that have hit Southwest China's Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.

According to a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Sept 10, the company is still evaluating the losses. But the suspension is likely to affect the business performance of the listed company.

Chihong Zinc reported 5.3 billion yuan ($836.4 million) in revenue for the first half, up 86.7 percent. But its net profit shrank by 16.9 percent to 154 million yuan.

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit the border area of Yiliang county of Yunnan and Weining county in Guizhou on Sept 7, killing at least 81 people.

Companies that run tin, copper and aluminum businesses in Yunnan were not affected because they are located far from the seismic zone.
