The deputy headmaster of a senior middle school in Hunan province who spent 10 days in the custody of local police for acting indecently against a female student will continue to work in a different school.

The local education authority said they had removed the teacher, surnamed Zeng from his post but will transfer him to another school the Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

A statement from police said the victim was a student of the school who was lodging at Zeng's home. Zeng went into the girl's room on June 13 and caressed and kissed her hands and bust. The girl lied and told Zeng she had her period so he would leave her room. The girl and her father reported the incident to police the next day. The incident became public after posts on a micro blog accused the teacher of rape.

The blog received widespread attention from the public.

Lianyuan public security bureau issued a statement on its official micro blog on Monday saying Zeng did not rape but had committed obscene violations. Police detained Zeng for 10 days from June 15.
