BEIJING -?A police campaign was launched in China on Monday to crack down on illegal food producers and vendors, factories producing counterfeit goods and markets built for the disposal of stolen goods, as well as pornography, gambling and drug traffickers.

Vice Minister of Public Security Huang Ming said during a national teleconference that these illegal practices and acts "have seriously harmed people's health and public interests."

The police should work together with agricultural, quality inspection, industrial and commerce and safety supervision departments to root out the supply chains that keep criminals in business, according to a statement taken from the conference.

The police should also cooperate with related departments to promote the development of commercial guilds, as these will help promote a healthy development of market which will leave no space for illegal activities, according to the statement.
