Woman wins praise for standing by her man

A young woman has been nominated as a model citizen in Guangdong province, for the devotion with which she cared for her husband when he was dying of cancer.

Liu Fen, a migrant worker from Hunan province, fell in love with Yang Hongli, a People's Liberation Army officer, in Huizhou, Guangdong province, on Feb 14, 2008. Later in September, Yang was diagnosed with cancer and decided to end his relationship with Liu in order to let her find another boyfriend. However, Liu loved Yang so much she decided to help him to fight the disease. From then, until Yang's death on April 9, 2011, Liu made every effort to care for Yang.
