Stunning ancient-style essay emerges from gaokao

A new talent possessing the gorgeous techniques of ancient Chinese writing was discovered after the college entrance exam in Jiangsu, Yangtse Evening reported Wednesday.

The name of the writer is still unknown because the grading process is still under way. But his sensational work has already stunned all of the judges as the article is full of flowery and rare ancient Chinese words and rhetoric, and experts had to make a four-page notation after resorting to literary sources.

"His mastery of ancient Chinese knowledge has exceeded mine," one of the graders said. "And what separates him from other previous writing talents is that his article sticks close to the topic, not just showing off his techniques."

"He can even jump to postgraduate studies now," another expert said.
