The Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters (SFDH) dispatched a work team to south China's Hunan Province to guide relief work, a statement on the SFDH website said.

Three other teams were dispatched Monday afternoon to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and eastern China's Fujian Province after heavy rains fell in these regions, too.

Heavy rains began pounding many places in Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangxi and Xinjiang Monday.

In Fujian Province, 24 are missing after heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides Monday.

In Xinjiang, more than 200 households were evacuated after a dam breach Monday, said a statement on the SFDH website.

Under a level III emergency response plan, the office must report the flood to the State Council within two hours and dispatch a work team to the disaster zone within 24 hours.
