The list of the first 10 pilot cities for the much-anticipated tri-networks integration has almost been decided and Beijing, the capital, is likely to be left out, sources close to the matter revealed yesterday, the Beijing Times reported today.

Among the 10 possible candidates are Chongqing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Harbin, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Nanjing, Changsha, Shenyang and Xinzhou, which have the necessary infrastructure and are better conditioned for the integration, according to the report..

But authorities say the list has not been officially sanctioned and is yet to be finalized.

The integration of the tri-networks, namely the telecommunications network, the cable TV network and the Internet, is a program which aims to provide the three services in "a single line."

The State Council, China's cabinet, approved a general plan to push forward the long-awaited integration program in mid January and 2010 marks the first year of the two-year pilot period.
