At 22 months old, girl can recite 2,000 characters

Updated: 2009-05-08 08:50 A 22-month-old girl in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, has memorized about 2,000 Chinese characters, thanks to her mother's encouragement. The mother surnamed Dou gave the girl some cards with characters when she was just 5 months old. To her surprise, the girl was able to recognize characters before she was a year old.
