Defense lawyer jailed for verbally abusing judge

Updated: 2009-05-06 10:05 A female lawyer in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province, was jailed for 15 days and fined 10,000 yuan ($1,464) after she cursed some judges during a court hearing on Monday. Surnamed Shang, the lawyer represented three defendants in a personal injury compensation case, when she expressed her dissatisfaction with a female judge. The hearing had to be closed since Shang couldn't calm down. (Chuncheng Evening News) |
