BEIJING - China's State Council, the country's Cabinet, will make use of the Internet as a standard method of inviting public opinion on draft laws and regulations.

In the second half of 2007, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council established an information management system on its official website to collect opinions on draft laws and regulations on a trial basis.

The system passed the evaluation of relevant legal departments and experts and scholars from the law circle on Friday.

During its trial, the system collected opinions on seven sets of draft regulations and received 16,888 opinions from more than 9,000 people.

"The system will help us to collect public opinion more accurately and analyze them more scientifically," said Kong Xiangqing, the office's information center director.
