Two kinds of nourishment made in the United States have been found substandard in east China's Zhejiang Province, according to sources with the provincial industry and commerce bureau.

In the vitamin and mineral pills under the brand of K. Max, with a batch number of 20060520, the contents of manganese, vitamine A, vitamine D, zinc and nicotinic acid are below the standard listed on its own specification.

The Alaska New Life children's fish oil under the batch number of 20060822 has been discovered to have insufficient DHA and EPA.

The vitamin and mineral pills and fish oil have been sold at 150 yuan (US$19.7) and 98 yuan (US$12.9) per bottle respectively in Zhejiang.

An unidentified official with the provincial industry and commerce bureau said that a thorough inspection shall be carried out for imported food products.

He also warned people to be cautious of taking foreign nourishment and avoid blind faith in expansive products.
