A drunken man from Wuhai, the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, was jailed for 10 days for calling a police hotline as a joke.

After a night of drinking earlier this month, the man, surnamed Wang, started dialing 110 for fun on his cellphone.

Wang was so involved in his hoax that he dialed the number more than 150 times. "That was the most serious vicious, annoying call we've received in recent years," police said, adding that Wang's hoax badly affected the emergency service for which the hotline was intended.
