Women sceptical of wedding across cultures

A survey conducted by Shanghai Labour Daily showed that less than 30 per cent of the young women interviewed have confidence in marrying foreigners.

Recently, one foreigner claimed in his weblog that he had numerous love affairs with Chinese girls while teaching English in Shanghai. This has triggered heated discussion of cross-cultural love affairs and marriage in Shanghai.

Of the women interviewees, 90 per cent said the main reason they date foreign men is curiosity towards foreign culture; 66 per cent said they believe cross-cultural marriages will not last long.
