By Construction will start on a production base for the seventh-generation BMW 5-series next year, according to the management committee of Shenyang Motown, where BMW located its first plant.
Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province, now has four automobile OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) - BMW Brilliance, Brilliance Jinbei, Brilliance and Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors - all concentrated in Shenyang Motown in the northeast of the city.
The motown, with an area of 70 square kilometers, is promoting expansion projects for the BMW 5-series and Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors.
In the past few years, Shenyang Motown has developed rapidly with annual output increasing from 260,000 vehicles in 2007 to 810,000 in 2013.
