Gift money, also known as Hongbao in China, is presented on such occasions as marriage, having a baby and other joyous events. To take advantage of the long holiday and moderate climate, many couples usually choose to get married during the National Day break.
Chutian Metropolis Daily reported that a netizen spent 3,000 yuan on wedding gifts during the holiday in 2013.
