Domestic carmaker BYD recently signed an agreement with Yunnan Investment Holdings Co Ltd to jointly promote electric vehicles in the southwestern province.

According to the agreement, all-electric taxis made by BYD will be put on the roads in Yunnan, followed by the automaker's pure-electric buses for public transportation, tourist services and government use.

The two also plan to build a plant in Yunnan to make electric vehicles, but are still in discussions on the details.
