BEIJING -- The export growth of China's electronic products fell 4 percent year-on-year in July, due to weakened external demand and a higher comparison base, official data showed Wednesday.

The country's exports of electronic products amounted to $57.2 billion last month, according to a statement posted on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

During the first seven months of this year, China exported $634.7 billion worth of electronic products, up 1.5 percent year-on-year.

China's exports to emerging countries continued to grow during the first seven months, with exports to Thailand, Russia and Indonesia climbing 18.7 percent, 21.8 percent and 21.7 percent, respectively.

However, the country's exports to Europe remained sluggish during the same period. Its exports of electronic products to Germany fell 10.9 percent year-on-year to $13.8 billion, while exports to Italy slumped 42.7 percent to $3.6 billion, according to the statement.
