Nigeria, the world's biggest cassava producer, will earn $136 million from the export of 1 million metric tons of cassava chips to China this year, the first trade of its kind, President Goodluck Jonathan said in an e-mailed copy of a speech on Tuesday.
Part of the tariff on wheat imports will be used to promote the cassava industry, he said.
