BEIJING: Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg unveiled his company's revamped privacy tools at a press at its Palo Alto headquarters, according to media reports Thursday.

The new tools will let users opt out of three main types of information sharing: personal content, personal information, and the application platform.

It will make it easier for people to adjust and set whom they share information with, a move aimed at abating criticism from privacy advocates.

Facebook users used to be required to navigate through 50 settings with over 170 different options to adjust how much of their profile information is accessible to anyone on the Internet.

"We listened to the feedback that we got, and we agree with it," Zuckerberg said, "We're really going to try to not have another backlash."

New users to the site should begin seeing the revamped tools immediately, while existing accounts will be migrated to the new tool set over the coming days and weeks.
