Boosting tourism was a key way to extend economic growth and achieve sustainable social and economic development, Liu said.

With huge potential, China's tourism was entering a golden period and the government was willing to join with other countries to boost tourism development, Liu said.

The Global Travel and Tourism Summit is a leading industrial conference held by the World Travel and Tourism Council every year, with the aim to achieve dialogues between governments and enterprises in tourism.

The summit this year was jointly sponsored by the National Tourism Administration and the Beijing municipal government.
