Chinese shares end lower on Tuesday

Chinese equities ended trading on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.64 percent.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,213.21 points, down 53.71 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 13,177.21 points, down 204 points, or 1.52 percent.

Total turnover shrank to 345.91 billion yuan ($50.64 billion) from 350.57 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
