China Everbright Bank, a nationwide commercial lender, saw net profit rose 45.2 percent last year to 7.32 billion yuan despite a slowdown in the economy.

As of the end of 2008, the bank's balance of non-performing loans was 9.36 billion yuan, 9.39 billion yuan less than that at the beginning of the year, while the non-performing loans ratio was 2 percent, 2.49 percentage points lower compared with the beginning of 2008.

The capital adequacy ratio of the bank stood at 9.10 percent and the provision coverage ratio surpassed 150 percent at the end of 2008.
