Motorola Inc sealed contracts worth $394 million in the first half of the year to supply telecoms gear to China Mobile, the larger of China's two wireless carriers, the firms said on Monday.

Motorola, which in July posted its second straight quarterly loss, said it would book about three-fifths of the revenue from the contracts in the first half.

The US firm, long one of the largest foreign multinational investors in China, had been working with the Chinese operator for more than two decades, it said in a statement.

The contracts were for equipment operating under the GSM standard prevalent in Europe and Asia, including base stations and other infrastructure, to expand and upgrade China Mobile's network across the country.
