China Petrochemical Corp (Sinopec), the country's largest oil refiner, said its oil depot in Tianjin began commercial operations on June 18.

The Nanjiang oil depot, located in Tanggu, has six oil tanks with storage capacity of 100,000 cubic meters each, the company said.

The oil depot will supply crude to Sinopec's refining unit, Beijing Yanshan PetroChemical, through a 228-kilometer crude pipeline, which has an annual designed capacity of two million tons.

The Tanggu to Beijing crude pipeline came onstream last month, the company noted.

Sinopec Corp is the parent of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp.
