Citizens participate in the "blessing of dragon boats" ritual at the Ap Lei Chau Hung Shing Cultural Festival 2026 in Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong, on March 22, 2026. The century-old tradition honors Hung Shing, the revered "God of the South Sea", a deified Tang Dynasty (618-907) official worshipped by fishermen and seafarers for protection at sea and safe voyages. The festival has been listed in Hong Kong's Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory since 2014. LI ZHIHUA/CHINA NEWS SERVICE
