Fujian province exported aquatic products valued at 43.81 billion yuan ($6.34 billion) in 2025, reaching 182 countries and regions, and marking its 13th consecutive year ranking first nationwide in aquatic product exports by value.

The province has developed plans for emerging markets, including Africa and Latin America, while maintaining strong exports to traditional markets such as Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea.

Its exports to Africa reached 5.67 billion yuan last year, up 35.6 percent year on year.

Driven by strong market demand, supportive policies, and innovative technologies, Fujian has vigorously promoted its aquatic product exports. Key products such as frozen cyprinids, frozen bigeye tuna, and frozen catfish have seen their export values surge by 3.7 times, 1.7 times, and 1.5 times year-on-year, respectively.

According to Xu Xihe, chairman of Fujian Mingxing Frozen Food, the company recorded nearly 40 percent year-on-year growth in its aquatic product export value last year, with its trading partners spanning nearly 60 countries and regions.

To help exporters expand their global reach, Xiamen Customs has implemented various support initiatives, including tax preferences, and strengthened its solution mechanism to directly address the challenges enterprises face.

Given the strict freshness and time requirements for aquatic products, Xiamen Customs has established a "green channel" and introduced a 24/7 appointment-based clearance system, optimizing inspection procedures and ensuring aquatic products are shipped as fresh as possible.
