Valentino illuminates the Year of the Horse
For the festival, the curator brought together seven artists from China, including Li Wentao, To Jane's, Li Haozhe, Studiososlow, Xu Mingyu, Liu Zhenyi, and Cai Liechao. They were invited to transform their individual artistic visions into pieces of light and shadow. United by the festival's theme "Dreams of Light," each beam of light became a beautiful wish for the future.
Li Wentao, an intangible cultural heritage inheritor of lantern making from Foshan, south China's Guangdong province, presented "Dream-Chasing Steed," a lantern work centered on the "horse," a symbol of progress and good fortune in Chinese culture. The piece depicts a galloping horse with its head held high, stepping on clouds, and moving forward under radiant light. Employing classical Foshan lantern craftsmanship, the work not only preserves the visual richness of traditional intangible cultural heritage but also revitalizes it with contemporary presentation.
