China has intensified efforts to combat employers who illegally withhold workers' salaries, especially those of migrant workers.
The State Council's employment promotion and labor protection work leading group held a video conference on Monday, at which it urged all levels of government to intensify efforts to address salary arrears during the winter season.
The conference called on government at all levels to maintain open reporting and complaint channels to ensure the collection of information and complaints about salary arrears.
To protect migrant workers' rights and ensure societal stability, local authorities have been directed to increase inter-departmental cooperation and crackdown firmly on employers who maliciously withhold wages.
