These marked the first international performance of Zhang Juzheng.
"In the past, I've had the privilege of performing other productions of Beijing People's Art Theatre here (in St. Petersburg), and I deeply felt the St. Petersburg audience's love for these historical dramas. The rich cultural ties between China and Russia make it possible to transcend cultural and language barriers through shared human emotions and ideas," says Feng.
On Sept 28, Feng also engaged in an art talk at the National Drama Theatre of Russia to share insights into the stagecraft behind Zhang Juzheng with local Russian audiences.
The National Drama Theatre of Russia, established in 1756, is one of Russia's oldest and most prestigious national theaters. Over the years, the theatre and Beijing People's Art Theatre have fostered a close and dynamic relationship, engaging in numerous exchanges through invitation exhibitions and performances.
Since 2015, the National Drama Theatre of Russia has brought such works as The Government Inspector and The Marriage to Beijing, to great acclaim.
