Five years ago, 118 graduates, including Yang Minjie, from the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Karamay Campus, wrote to President Xi Jinping, expressing their determination to stay in Xinjiang and serve the western region.
Today, all 118 graduates have taken root in Xinjiang, contributing to its development and fulfilling Xi's call in his reply to them to "become capable and reliable contributors to the western region".
Li Jun, Party secretary and president of the Karamay Campus, said Xi's reply has inspired young people and shown them the wide opportunities Xinjiang offers.
