Advancing toward a fairer world order
Solution of Iran nuclear issue highlighted
President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China supports Iran in safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity, as well as in defending its legitimate rights and interests through political negotiations.
Xi made the remarks when meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Beijing.
Xi said China attaches great importance to Iran's repeated commitment not to seek the development of nuclear weapons and respects Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
"The use of force is not the right way to resolve differences. Communication and dialogue are the right path to achieving lasting peace," Xi stressed.
He said that China will continue to uphold fairness and justice and push for a solution to the Iranian nuclear issue that accommodates the legitimate concerns of all parties.
He added that China always places developing relations with Iran at an important position in its Middle East diplomacy.
Pezeshkian said that no matter how the international situation changes, Iran will stay committed to a friendly policy toward China and enhancing cooperation with China.
He expressed Iran's support for the Global Governance Initiative put forward by Xi, as well as the readiness to strengthen coordination with China to jointly oppose unilateralism and power politics, and maintain peace and stability in the Middle East.
