Yunnan's Gongshan plum yews: from adversity to thriving

Due to restricted distribution, habitat loss and an extremely low natural reproduction rate, the population of Gongshan plum yews — a plant species with extremely small populations — has dwindled to only 220 plants in Southwest China's Yunnan province.

A rescue and protection project was initiated in Yunnan in 2021, resulting in more than 100 seedlings being cultivated, 35 of which have met the criteria for reintroduction.
