China Coast Guard intensifies patrols in South China Sea

China Coast Guard announced it conducted law enforcement patrols on Monday within the territorial waters and surrounding areas of Huangyan Island, asserting its sovereignty over the South China Sea feature.
The patrols on Monday were part of a sustained effort throughout June, during which the China Coast Guard intensified its presence around the island. According to a statement, these operations included "tracking and monitoring, verbal warnings, and interception and expulsion," aimed at strengthening control over the relevant waters.
The coast guard said that these actions are "in accordance with the law and regulations" and are intended to "resolutely safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests."
