Reddish fruits such as pomegranate have been favored motifs of painters for their beautiful color that symbolizes vigor and prosperity.
The exhibition As Thriving as Fruits now running at the China National Academy of Painting in Beijing displays some 200 ink paintings with a pomegranate theme by artists across the country.
The exhibition is a celebration of the dynamism of nature, expressing well wishes for rural progress as pomegranate planting and selling is a major industry in certain villages.
