His most famous creation is a group of reliefs on the Monument to the People's Heroes, which he oversaw and made with several other artists.
Recently, Liu's family donated 23 of his works to the China National Academy of Painting, including preparatory sculptures for the Monument to the People's Heroes reliefs.
