PLA tracks, monitors US warplane in Taiwan Strait

The People's Liberation Army tracked and monitored a United States' military aircraft that flew through the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, a Chinese defense spokesman said on Tuesday.
Li Xi, spokesman for the PLA Eastern Theater Command, said that on Tuesday, a US P-8A anti-submarine patrol aircraft flew through the Taiwan Strait and publicly hyped up the action.
He said the theater command deployed aircraft to follow and monitor the US warplane during its transit, handling the situation in accordance with the law and regulations.
The troops of the theater command maintain a high level of alertness at all times, resolutely defending national sovereignty, security, as well as regional peace and stability, Li said.
