"I think this narrative (de-risking) is actually a little bit overdone or is a little bit biased," said Song Xin, the founder of Sinnvoll Think Tank and former policy advisor at the European Parliament.

Song Xin also said the de-risking move was taken more from the political side, and European policymakers need to rethink this approach.

"There should be some people-to-people exchanges, more communication between the industrial side and social side, and more investment not only from the governmental side but also from the company side, industry side, and social side," added Song Xin.
